Write for us

Southern City Journal welcomes pitches that help general readers see how urban land, routes, buildings, public places or place names fit together. Send proposals through the Contact page.

What to pitch

Propose a focused, evergreen piece with one clear question or comparison. Good subjects explain a feature readers can notice, show how two urban forms differ, trace the background to a familiar design, or untangle a common misconception without relying on local rules or specialist advice.

What makes a strong proposal

Include a working title, the central idea, why it matters to a curious reader, the proposed section and a brief account of how you would support factual claims. Keep the scope manageable and say what the piece will not attempt to cover. Do not send a completed article unless it has been requested.

How to submit

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option for a pitch. Include your preferred name and a way to reply. A proposal is not an assignment, and we cannot promise publication or a particular response time.
